What We Commit To at
Calvary Baptist Church
(member’s
covenant)
“Having received Jesus Christ as my
Lord and Savior and been scripturally baptized, and being in agreement
with Calvary Baptist Church of Hanson, MA “What We Believe”, I now
feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with Calvary Baptist Church
Family and commit myself to God and to the other members to do the
following:
I. I will protect
the unity of my church
- By acting in love toward others
and supporting unity within the body. (1
Pet 1:22; Rom 15:5-7)
- By refusing to gossip or display
a critical/contentious spirit. (2
Cor 12:20; Eph 4:29)
- By following Biblical church leadership.
(1 Thes 5:12-13; Heb 13:17;
1 Pet 5:1-4)
- By gracefully accepting one another’s
differences and being open to change.
(Rom
15:7; Col 12:13; Mark 7:3,5,8,9,13; 1 Cor 9:22)
- By willingness to keep offenses
private and practice forgiveness.
(Matt 5:23,24; 18:15; Col 3:12-13)
II. I will share the responsibility
of my church
- By praying for my church family (Eph
6:8; 1 Thes 1:2; 5:25; 1 Tim 2:1-2)
- By inviting the unchurched to attend
(Luke 14:23; Acts 1:8)
- By warmly welcoming all those who
attend (Romans 15:7)
- By encouraging others who serve in
the church (Heb 3:13)
- By giving regularly, faithfully, generously,
and cheerfully (1 Cor 16:2; 2
Cor 9:6-7)
III. I will serve the ministry
of my church
- By discovering and using my gifts
and talents (1 Pet 4:10)
- By being equipped to serve by my pastors
(Eph 4:11-12)
- By developing a servant’s heart (Mark
10:43; Phil 2:3,4,7)
IV. I will support the testimony
of my church
- By faithful attendance (Heb
10:25)
- By living a godly life as an example
to others (Phil 1:27; Col 4:5,6)
- By being prepared to share my faith
as God gives me the opportunity (1
Pet 3:15)
